well i saw SHADOWS FALL on friday at the met. it was a great show. i enjoyed it and so did many other people around me!!! yeah they played that NEW SONG that MTV knows about..it rocked!! but so does his awasome dread locks!! but i mean who ever really watches that mtvcrap anyways?? to kill time.. and if the right person watches it at the right time to see some thing that is keeping the scene more alive and the cylce of bands flowing.. im all 4 it!! i agree with xmikex as soon as slipknot fags get a hold of it, its trash,fuck waisting you money on them so they can water down "metalcore" a genre that many kids in small time bands craft and hold so dear. So as soon as they get any attention from their music, they suck right? Pretty pathetic. I like lots of different music, including Slipknot. That makes me a sheep in the majority of your eyes right? The ones that posted here that are Shadows Fall fans should decide that they suck now just because MTV gave them some attention. One minute the metal community says that they hate nu-metal and instead should listen to other forms of metal that you believe are better, then in the next breath you get pissed because too many people are listening to a particular type of band that fits into that catagory, and you deem them sell-outs.

Like bands because you like their music, not by how many fans they have or what kind of people enjoy that music.

Shadows Fall is awesome. They didn't sell out or "go mainstream" in any way, shape or for. The mainstream came to them, as it did for Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, God Forbid, Unearth, In Flames, Bleeding Through, and a TON of other bands. Of course, I am sure all of those bands suck too? The FACT is, stuff that was "underground" a few years ago isn't so "underground" anymore, and nu metal is a dying breed and the metalcore and hardcore and all that stuff is becoming more and more accessible. Headbangers Ball is back and they play anything and everything. Face it, the Slipknot kids are looking for something new and bands like Shadows Fall and Unearth are the only thing that is going right now that they can relate to. Maybe a year will go by and people will move on to a new phase and you can all have your precious bands back. Who knows!

Whats the difference between Metalcore and Hardcore to you guys? I am just curious? Fill me in, Because what I remember Hardcore as being was Agnostic Front, Old Biohazard, Next Step Up, Undermine, Integrity. That was the Hardcore I grew-up listening to. Help me out.

No, because I hate a lot of bands music (ie: Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, etc, etc) but still think they are amazing musicians. So just because you don't like a band, doesn't mean they aren't a good band. You just don't like their music. Shadows Fall is a group of amazing musicians. There is absolutely no denying this whatsoever. Both Jon Donias and Matt Bachand could wipe their ass with just about anyone breathing on guitar. They did not sell out in any way, shape or form. As a matter of fact, I heard two new songs and they are fucking HEAVY. One of them is just a constant breakdown, I swear. People who look at things as white and black like you obviously do are so lame. It's like there's no in between, you either like it or it sucks. Lame. It's just as lame as people who say crap like "and i was going to see half of those bands you mentioned long before the majority of kids who post here ever even knew about them." Ok, I havn't read more than parts of 3 posts or so, but here is what I think. I don't listen to Shadows Fall. I don't listen to Killswitch either, or Poison the Well. I saw Shadows Fall once (last year at the metal fest) and I wasn't thrilled or anything, but I don't dislike them. Other than that, I have heard one song, Crushing Belial. All irrellevant though. Who cares whether they are on MTV or not??? You know how stupid it is to listen to music just cause it is popular? Isn't that stupid?? You are supposed to listen to what makes you happy, not what is popular! So how is disowning a band just because they get popular any different?? I think, and always have thought, that it is JUST as folly (no more or less) to be a fan of a certain kind of music or a certain band because it is the "in" thing, as it is to be derogative towards a certain kind of music or a certain band only because it is the "in" thing. Those who are fans of Shadows Fall and enjoy their music shouldn't be affected in anyway by their appearance on MTV.
