New site? Maybe some day.

Anybody got any ideas for me. I've got (and now had for a while) pretty bad knee pain in both knees. Had jumpers knee as a kid from playing basketball, and I still play ball and run quite frequently. I'm in good shape, careful what I eat, etc etc - but it's just been a problem forever. Would like to avoid the Dr. on this one for now though. Have also tried the ice, rest, elevation too with only temporary relief. Thanks in advance! |

are you veggie?
how much advil do you take? |
Glucosimine chondritin or shark cartilage. Really does a nice job. |
general inflammation wont be helped really all that much by glucosamine and or condr. fish oils will do some to help lubricate joints and fight inflamation and so on, but to a smaller extent than is popularly, and properly understood.
first off--inflamm is all about your pH. if you eat acid forming foods and or beverages (there are plenty of resources which will tell you which are acid and alkaline) you are going to be where you are now. Wanna prove the point further? get some litmus papers...pee on them in the morning (first urine of the day) and do so for 5 days. get your average and find just how acidic you are.
Now--what can you do that will work?
First off is "addiction by subtraction" if you drink coffee every day, lay off for a while. if you eat shit every morn, lunch or what have you--lay off. there are no miracle supps. if you eat like shit, taking supps no matter how good they are, they wont work. the western allopathic model is a joke.
Curcumin, yes--the spice 1,000 mgs x day (super affordable)
DLPA : phenylalanine (promotes better blood flow and helps with pain)
Ginger--yes, ginger.
Magnesium--trace nutrient, base salt, has marked action on the adrenals and a whole host of other things including better blood flow.
FLAX SEED / OIL ETC : BEATING UP INFLAM CAN BE DONE WELL BY OPENING UP THE PROSTAGLANDIN PATHWAYS WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF OMEGA 6. FISH OIL DOES NOT HAVE 6'S, JUST 3'S AND 9'S...
and finally---Green products help to correct pH and are your #1 insurance plan. i like chlorella, chlorophyll etc. stay away from crazy "green formulas" --the best green products are the ones closest to the way nature provides. things that perform great in a "lab" dont always hash out biochemically..

If his knees are inflamed, you definitely don't want to be telling him to take more omega 6's, especially considering the fact that most modern food has way too much omega 6 (and that omega 6 causes inflammation). |

Really clean diet - not a "veggie" and I literally only take Advil before I've been running/playing basketball for the last two weeks or so. I don't even take it when I have headaches cause I never take like anything. Drink at least a gallon of water a day easily. Take fish oil and it's not helping and have tried flax seeds in the past as well with little difference. I appreciate the help corpussy, and I'm not looking for a "miracle supplement" as much as something that would hopefully help on top of how careful/on top of the issue I already am. |
What does "really clean" diet mean? I'm going to guess lots of whole grains are involved. Do yourself a favor and try not eating any bread (or cookies or anything made with flour) for a few weeks. I promise that you will notice a difference. |
going gluten free is so unrewarding when it comes to taste, but I think it's the best choice for a lot of reasons.
I've cut back and noticed a difference.
though I will never give up beer. fuck that. |
It's not just the gluten. It's all the lectins that leach nutrients from our bones.
I don't know how you can say giving up gluten is "unrewarding when it comes to taste." Bread is so bland tasting. If I ever eat bread again, it would only ever be sourdough. Just eat better tasting food brah. |
mostly, it's just the beer
all the gluten free beer I've tried tastes like pralines and dick |
and bread substitutes are generally shit
but so long as you don't feel the need to make sandwiches, it's not a problem
i'm in the "eat less/balance meat and fat with fruit and veggies/exercise/life is too short to worry about my fucking gluten intake" school of thought.
skateboarding and long/triple jumping added 10 years to my knees. the major outside tendon on my left knee is too short for my leg and pulls on my kneecap during strenuous running. it manifested itself during a hike down an endless hill last summer. it renders it totally unusable after a while. i was prescribed stretches and low-impact leg exercises (bike).
it sounds like your knee problems aren't caused by any specific thing or centered to once certain spot. what everyone is saying probably helps...but if you have insurance go see a specialist. |
I was considering getting a stationary bike rather than using a treadmill - you think that it helps out for you? |
Yeah, strengthening the muscles around the knees is the best thing you can do. Stationary bike is a poor substitute for a real bike but needed in some cases. I love elliptical machines because they do the whole body with no impact, if you're gonna spring for equipment, that's what I'd buy. |
Treadmills are definitely the bane of knees' existence. Low impact or GTFO. |
treadmills are fairly high impact. a stationary bike would be better for your knees |
any suppliments/dietary habits won't directly help your knees especially if your diet is fine already. your knees are huge complex joints that take a beating and the only thing that helps is solid hard healthy muscle to support them (same with your back). humans have the biggest knees relative to body mass and they kneed muscles to match. |

I GET IT, KNEED INSTEAD OF NEED THAT'S FUNNY |
GET BACK IN THE KITCHEN AND KNEAD MY BREAD. |
I have two femurs. Nanner nanner nanner. But mine aren't aligned right :( |
especially if your diet is fine already. |
A lot of people who think their diet is fine are completely wrong. I promise that no bread and no beer for a month will change anyone's mind. |

ITT: Martins Simmons strikes again |

my cock is sore from all my vagina pushups. is there a supplement for that? Bitches! |
The ph thing is something I. Starting to look into. I heard a radio show about it. Made sense. |
