- adjust that figure to # of deaths per 100,000
- pop over to wikipedia and see where that figure (which isn't even a whole number yet) lands on the list of all causes of death for americans
- now take a look at how often and in what proportion this one issue takes up the time in all media, all national elections, and all paranoid discussions on the internet....
