FITCHBURG, Mass. -
A 12-year-old Fitchburg boy has been charged with aggravated rape and home invasion, accused of violently attacking a 63-year-old neighbor in her home, police said.
The boy, whose name is not being released, used a hammer to threaten the woman, Sgt. Glenn Fossa said.
"The boy entered the home, at some point was armed with a hammer, and assaulted the woman inside," Fosse said.
Police said the attack took place in the early evening hours of July 15.
"There is no question that this is an aberration, a crime even urban areas don't see frequently, this kind of scenario. It is troubling," Fosse said.
Police said the boy was familiar with the woman and her home before the attack. |

Exactly. And regular citizens clearly are not trained enough to carry hammers concealed. That should be only left to experts such as carpenters. |
