New site? Maybe some day.

I was listening to people calling in a radio show on sunday saying that they were out of food for a storm that happened on saturday. As long as I can open cans and boil water, I could live for at least 2 weeks on what I have stored. How bout you guys? |
Same here, 2 weeks. But that's for when society turns inside out, I don't worry about the weather. |
ZERO
stock piles of cereal and pasta excluded |
I'm coming off a summer in which I got up at 6, left my house at 7, worked till 4:30 ate dinner on my way to an internship and then got home at midnight 5-6 days a week. Buying food to store in my house was a complete waste of time. At this point I've completely forgotten how to grocery shop.
I had a negative balance in my bank account a few weeks ago, and ate peanut butter sandwiches and vegan tuna salad with money I got from Coinstar. It was the most prepared I've been to feed myself all year. |
Sounds like you guys should listen to Alex Jones more often. You'd have 2 years worth. |
I'm slowly building up to have a month or 2. BTW, to those of your in portsmouth, there is an awesome new local grocery store called McKinnons. I guess there are 3 of them.
http://www.mckinnonsmarkets.com/
I got amazing deals there saturday. |
Each time I take 93 up into NH, I stop off at the McKinnons in Salem NH. Great food/alcohol stock. |
If I ate meat, I would mosdef shop there. I got 5lbs of potatoes for $.99 |
Probably a couple weeks, but I can always fish/hunt if desperate. |
"we lost power saturday night. Sunday we cooked our food on the grill and now we are all out of food. PSNH needs to fix this. What are we going to do!?!" |
^Wow. Hopefully those people die. We lost power for 7 1/2 days in that ice storm a few years ago, it sucked, but whatever.
Granted, I did buy a sweet propane generator after that... |
I hear the damage from this recent snowfall was worse than the ice storm in NH. Both relatives in NH are out of power and will be for several days to come. NH = The Generator State |
We were out for most of the day yesterday, but didn't even really notice, besides the sound of the generator. |

WHERE'S YOU GET YOUR ACCESSORIES? NOT FROM ME!!
the generator state is so true. This storm is only 1/2 as bad as the ice storm. |
I thought so, the ice storm kicked the shit out of this place. Not nearly as much damage from this storm. |
excluding pasta and rice, i only have about 5 days worth of fish to eat. |
we have a whole closet of random pasta/canned food that doesn't get much attention, there's gotta be some frozen gems in the freezer...excluding 4 juicy cats, between 6 of us we could probably last more than a week. |
hahaha yeah the only foodstuffs i have are 2 juicy cats and one scrawny runt cat. |
I have 2 juicy roommates that would pair well with some sweet baby rays sauce and a dash of Adobo. |
At least a year. Flour can last generations if you store it correctly. My farm share deliveries start next week and each weekly delivery I could probably stretch over 6 months or so since it will be mostly taters and beets. Also bought 4 flats of raman at a liquidation store. If I were desperate, I'd break veg and fish and hunt, but I'm pretty boss at gardening. Just not in the winter. |
Of grass fed meat herpa derpa |
When counting days of food, does it all have to be pre-eaten, or do feces count? I might have to change my answer. |
NEIGHBORS STOCK FOOD. I STOCK GUNS. RUN OUT OF FOOD, SHOOT NEIGHBORS. EAT NEIGHBORS. TAKE NEIGHBORS FOOD.
SAVES A TON OF STORAGE SPACE, AND LESS TIME EXAMINING SHELF LIVES.

I stopped reading this thread at "vegan tuna salad." |
