New site? Maybe some day.

Hello.
I play drums in a TOOL Tribute band called USEFUL IDIOT. Everyone in our band loves A PERFECT CIRCLE's first release "Mer de Noms" so much, that we would like to perform the record in it's entirety for a couple of shows. Nothing permanent, no long term commitment, just a lot of fun.
We generally learn all of the material on our own, then have one or at most two practices to make sure we're all of the same page before our shows. Which is exactly how we'd like this project to work. As of right now, we have the vocals, backing vocals, bass, first guitar, keyboards, and drums covered. We only need one more guitar player to be able to do the record justice. (we do realize that the record has some other instrumentation on it, strings etc.; but we feel that if it's done live with a decent syth, then it will come off just fine.) To clarify, we are not ruling out the possibility of maybe learning some of their other material in the future, we just want to focus on "Mer De Noms" for now.
We don't have a set day that we practice on, because like i said, we specifically schedule one or two before each show, so even if you're really busy, we can work around that. (as long as you have the time to learn the material on your own.) So basically, you need to:
-Own a guitar, and a rig loud enough to play in a small to medium sized club, and either a pedal board, or a multi-effects processing pedal/rack-mount; there are changing guitar sounds through the entire record, we'd like to emulate that as much as possible. (but if you have everything else, just not enough effects to do the record, we could figure something out.)
-Either have transportation, or live within a reasonable distance from Boston. We really want this to happen, so we'd be able to pick you up as long as you're not in the Berkshires or something.
-actually have the time, focus, and desire to learn the entire record. Including all of the different effects, of which there are many.
-be at least 18
-not be fucking retarded.
Thank you for your time, if interested email me here:

I'm used to you not liking my tribute's. |

baystate rock board or gtfo |
|
i would do this but dont feel confident enough in my guitar playing to learn all the material up to par. also i'm fuckin retarded. |

baystate rock board or gtfo |
I would if people still read that board. |
|
I would do this but don't have $2000 to spend on pedals. |
|
i think it's a cool idea, jim. good luck. |
|
Mer de Noms is easily in my top 5 favorite albums. I have nothing but high expectations for this. |

me too. It's one of my fav albums of all time. I promise you, this will happen. |
|
Just a side note, I am fairly certain the tunings for those songs jump all over the place. Could be problematic unless your bass/guitar players have multiple instruments. |
|
Band's barely been around 10 years. |
|
So? This isn't stopping me from starting my Millionaires tribute band. |

yeah, and the tour with one area show that was just announced for July is the first in this area in almost 5 years. |
|
everybody's a critic
I'm not terribly familiar with the album, honestly. So I won't speak to my ability or inability to play/due them justice sonically. |

ITT: AAF Board rears it's ugly numetal head. |

RUH ROH
how is A Perfect Circle nu-metal again? i would say they are more heavy rock than anying. |
|
APC isn't rock or nu-metal. |
|
nice, i don't like anything but "Mer de Noms". the others are too sappy and whiny. |
|
i think 13th step is an excellent hangover/wake n bake album. |

..and your band is rapmetal. |
|
I realize that this is a board based on metal and hardcore, and I expected a much worse reaction from the 'gallery, i just don't care. Plenty of people on here love "Mer de Noms", and this add might find us our 2nd guitar player.. USEFUL IDIOT found our bass player from our RTTP add, so here's hoping. |

like be the only one in a thread looking for other musicians to play with that is complaining rather than contributing something useful? |

haha, mer de noms is a friggin masterpiece, no need for butthurt. APC just has the "love the band, hate the fans" that follows that whole circuit of NIN TOOL etc... |
