Wanna start doing some promotion for Boston shows with my rock band. Me and my singer will just jam out our tunes acousticly and give out demos and flyers and shit.

Will we get hassled by the police if we dont have a permit?

What are some good areas to do this?

Yes, you will

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Sep 11,2010 10:47am
so how do we get a permit to do it legally then?

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Sep 11,2010 10:48am
and can i sing love ballads to Tom Menino and John Kerry in the elevator of the Fed Reserve?

Gov't Center would be a better choice. During the day though, it's kind of a ghost town on the weekends

you have to call town hall about it. I think it's roughly $50 for several hours.

Only the Jamaican trashcan drummers and incredible guitar player in South Station are real.

I've always been told its 25-30 bucks for a pass that lasts you a full year, from the day you get it.

http://www.mbta.com/business_center/subway_performers/

Cambridge: Harvard Square is best area in the evenings and weekends. Cambridge permit is $40 from Cambridge Arts Council, 344 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02139 617-349-4380. http://www.cambridgeartscouncil.org or http://www.ci.cambridge.ma.us/~CAC/ Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA permit and regulations.

This permit is good for one year beginning January 1st. You can sell your own cds and use amplification at 80db in a 25 feet distance. Download copies of Cambridge Ordinance from this site or the arts council site (Laws are periodically updated so always check the City Clerk office for latest version).

I can't find anything about actually playing on the STREET in BOSTON, though. Just MBTA stuff.

Not a problem. I've been meaning to look that shit up for myself anyway. TEAMWORK.

go shred on the corner of Newbury and Fairfield in front of the CVS, enough room to set up without being on the sidewalk and you can usually play for at least an hour before the cops try to fuck with you if you dont have a permit

HAHA, very true.

No originals though. Those saggy poons only like shitty Journey and Bon Jovi covers.

Actually, I'm getting a guy I work with (who frequents there every Friday and has had sexual relations with every woman in that bar) to talk to the person about possibly booking Hard Number 9. Doubt he'll remember but we'll see.
