Hey, folks. I know I made a thread about this some time ago, but an artist friend of mine has contacted me wanting to know if I can hook him up with bands needing album art. The dude is Paul Carrick, the earlier thread is HERE (tons of amazing art), and he's just done the cover for Denial's (Mex) Catacombs of the Grotesque - looky here:





He's also just finishing up art for the re-release of Mythos' (Fin) Pain Amplifier. Paul is a gaming buddy of mine from back in the day, and his shit rules. (He's published a LOT of stuff in various Call of Cthulhu books.) We were talking to him about using some of his stuff for the Herugrim release while I was involved with that, and I fully recommend him for anyone in need of his services. IDK, and yes. He's all fired up to work with bands, so you might find the rates eminently reasonable. (Says the guy who has no idea how much reasonable is.)

i think i have a hand numbered cthulu piece by him on my wall upstairs...it may be a different artist though it looka like his style.

Thanks Steve and everyone else for the very flattering comments! I had some of my best experiences as an illustrator working with musicians, so I would of course love more opportunities. I think it's a combination of my interests in metal music and imagery combined with working for someone who is creative and understanding of the creative process. OK, blah blah, sorry for the ramble.

Rates can vary quite a lot depending on the time frame, color or black and white, complexity, artistic freedom and copyright situation. A relatively simple greyscale (not just straight B&W but with grey shading) painting could be as low as $175-ish up to something fairly elaborate for maybe $500. Color might range from $300 for a tinted B&W to $1,000+ for something more polished and epic. There's generally more than one way to make something fit a budget, even if it's secondary rights for something I've already created (such as something on my site).

Can you draw Tanks?

Tanks? Not accurately out of my head, but with some decent enough reference I can. I have treadhead friends who could supply me with needed info I am sure. I did a few science fiction tank illustrations for the Warhammer 40,000 card game... leman russ demolisher, chimera, predator, Nurgle land raider... that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Hahaha... I think he just may be fucking with you on the tank front. (Besides, everybody knows that tanks weren't invented until the Horus Heresy.)

heh! No problem, it's all part of a noob's job. We have far more frustrating traditions at a forum I mod, things like heavy word filtering that makes some posts incoherent. Good times.

arilliusbm- Good question. I definitely like the creatures, but I can get into the environments as well... preferably if there's an emphasis on the fantasy aspect (something surreal or epic). I'm fine with either/both, though now I am itching to paint a big gross warmachine.

It's a turned based startegy rpg type game that came out for the PC around '99. Always liked the fantay artwork in it. Steve knows how obsessed I am with it.
