* Canadian Premiere: Until The Light Takes Us will have it's Canadian Premiere in Winnipeg, Canada, on January 15. The film will be projected onto a giant screen that is made entirely of ice. Yes. It IS awesome. More details TBA.

If your city isn't yet listed, please consider calling your local indie theaters and asking if the film is coming there and very very nicely letting them know that there is a community of people who hope it comes - it really does help, as long as it's very polite and concise. People have been doing this - and it IS working! Canada - ditto. ALSO! People have started making Facebook group pages to bring the film to their city. As a metal listener, I have been trying to get people to pay attention to why I listen to metal -- for most of my adult life. They focus on it being loud, "angry" and possibly antisocial, but never accept that it might have a reason for being that way and I might have a reason for liking it.
Until the Light Takes Us looks into why people make metal, and crosses political and genre lines to show how large corporations, fast food restaurants, religions and socially popular ideas are all the same type of thing, and metalheads have reason to reject it.
By looking into early 1990s black metal, this film explores the thoughts all of us have but are afraid to admit we do. Metal is only the lens, but the topic is a very human one: how do we both get along socially and stay true to ourselves?
