New site? Maybe some day.

Curveball thread.
Dani Filth should be crowned the biggest douche-king on the planet
However...
Little fact: I believe Nebelhexie (Samoth's ex wife) is on the album cover.
That's as far as I go.
This band should continue to be ridiculed, but I still feel compelled to listen to these two albums from time to time.
Anyone else enjoy this AIDS tainted Black Metal? |
I like evrything up until midian. Always disliked his vocals though. |
His vocals are absolutely terrible. If they had a different vocalist, they might have had a better career. I didn't really dig Midian, despite them aquiring Martin Powell (thanks for wasting your talent, faggot).
I even like early Hecate Enthroned, and their vocals also suffer the Dani Filth curse, but obviously we know why. |
"this Cradle of Filth sounds like Cradle of Crap" |
and just when i thought they couldn't get any worse, then the newest album came out. |
Hecate Enthroned "Dark Requiems and Unsilent Massacre" wasn't all bad, the vocals are even tolerable at some points. however it did have on the best intro songs ever. |
i don't/haven't ever liked em.... but i love the word Nimphetamine.... it's a good one. |
I always thought the guitars were never loud enough on the early Hecate albums. |
could never get into these dudes |
Not to be a demo snob but... the demos. |
Nothing wrong with demos.
In fact, I'm listening to this right now. |
appreesh the band hate the singer. |
Frito-Lay Black Metal. I dig the first few records but haven't listened to 'em in a while. |
early 'gateway' metal band that i shrugged off as soon as i found much better bands. |
"Dusk and her Embrace" was my second bm record (first: "Nightside Eclipse.") Loved it for years but as I got older and stopped dating goth chicks the tackiness became somewhat more glaring.
The new albums are awful, but yeah, there are a lot of legitimately menacing riffs on some of the older albums. I would make an exception for "Damnation and a Day." It's unbelievably catchy. I haven't bothered with anything after that.
No doubt about it Nick Barker was one of the best drummers in the scene for a long time. I hope he digs himself out of the bathtub he shares with Tony Laureano in Shagrath's basement where they shoot junk together and reminisce about all the great bands they got kicked out of. |
I once tried out for Cradle of Filth but then I realized my guitar skills were too good for a band of such caliber. |

oh, you! |
i typically stop after Cruelty. and i've shown hecate enthroned to a few people lately always stating "it's like if cradle stayed analog and kept writing in the Vempire vein." |
I dig their first 4 albums. |
Dimmu's For All Tid still beats CoF, during the early years. |

This exactly, it doesn't really age well. But it was pretty badass when I was a freshman in highschool and wore a lot more black eyeliner. |
Always enjoyed the early albums but I never listened to them excessively, so maybe that why they never wore thin. |
I also listened to Dimmu early on during my discovery of black metal and I still find myself listening to the first 3 albums. I know they get bashed but whatever. Those albums are timeless to me. |

I read just the eyeliner part and inhaled for a massive "FAAAAAAAAAAA-" and then I looked at the poster and saw it was Pam. It made a little more sense. But I'm not going to waste it...
FAAAG. |

As far as CoF goes, Cruelty was a cool concept album and I appreciated it at the time. The vocals are corny Gargamel bullshit, but there are some really catchy riffs. The "Temples aflame on our path to glory!" spoken word track at the end of Dusk and Her Embrace is totally sweet shit too.
Then that single came out, I forget the name of the song, and their home video came out with it. I saw the video for the new song, gave it a "and that's that" hand wipe and let the nu-goths flock to it like... well like nu-goths to cradle of filth. |
i still enjoy all the way up to midian |

Fixed. |
Always thought these guys were gayer than AIDS. |
Pam is such a faggot with AIDS that I hope dies. |

This is both so true and so awesome at the same time. |
