No better description for them. Huge Opeth influence but with a slice of blackmetal at some parts.
I know some of you are Opeth fans, so if you like them and haven't heard this band, check em out. If not, well that's alright too.
Thanks, aril. great find. I had never heard these guys before and i'm really liking it. it has a strong opeth influence but doesn't rip them off. Definitely good enough to stand on its own merits.
Since were on the subject of opeth lets talk anout the new drummer that is nothing compared to... umm forgot his name, but still hes good just not as good...
i cant stop fucking listening to "The Forlorn". for the past like 2 weeks. how did i not hear about this album sooner?! its so fucking good.

This band is alright. Not on Opeth's level though.

still can't stop listening to these guys. The Forlorn is pure platinum amazingness. Closure is also fantastic and i would definitely say they are on Opeth's level. it's a completely different feeling, much more melancholy and a smothering sense of hopelessness is coarsing throughout their music.

This band is talented and I like what they do, but saying they're on Opeth's level is giving them far too much credit (IMO). Their music can't really be compared to the first five Opeth albums, as they're two separate bands. Judging by your posts, I can tell you're really into what they do.
probably my favorite tune. its soooooo good... it's weird getting the same kind of atmosphere that a doom metal band has while playing like 10 times faster, but these dudes just nail it.
Holy shit, I think I might have to get some of that. Sounds nasty.

this is the newer material, a lot less black metal, as in... no blasting sections. this is where people get the Opeth comparisons from. i think the music is more doomy and is not TOO similar to Opeth. no fast double bass parts... i prefer their album "The Forlorn" over "Closure" but i remain hopeful that their new material goes back into their black metal roots, but i doubt it.
3 of their songs cant be posted because they are over 10 minutes long. The opening song from The Forlorn "Frailty" is epic as shit. gorgeous melodies and an overwhelming sense of desolation throughout.
yeah its so over-rated because they are so popular and you can't stop hearing about them everywhere you go.
The Forlorn is awesome. it's a fantastic album, just listen to it and accept it for what it is instead of going into the listening experience biased against it because people compare the band to Opeth and say good things about it.
Fucking tired of the Opeth hating for no reason. i hate the people that obsess over a band to the point where they would let the entire band and road crew bust in their mouths, but that doesn't detract from a band's overall great musical talent/song writing... whoever the band is.
Yeah, when i get forced to check something out because someone else really likes it and wants to share, i go into the experience with the intent of being disappointed, but i atleast give the shit a fair shot instead of just listening to like 40 seconds, skipping ahead a minute, listening to 20 seconds, skipping ahead another minute, etc, etc... you will NEVER get what the band wanted you to feel from a song if you just listen to bits of it. i can't stand that shit. i have a feeling most people that shit on a band do just that.
i even sat through the entire Poison the Well album that had so many reviews on this site so long ago multiple times because i wanted to be able to say that i didnt like the album with a REAL opinion, not just an assumption based on 1/50th knowledge of the product.

FUCK. Fall is so good. fuck this band.

The Forlorn is one of the best albums i have ever heard. their newest album, Fall of Icons, is pure Opeth worship and also very awesome. The Forlon though, is their masterpiece. its different and anyone that tries to compare it to Opeth is a fucking moron. "Forlorn" is perfect. i can not stop listening to it.
anyone that tries to compare it to Opeth is a fucking moron.
XPLN.

their album "The Forlorn" isn't as Opeth-like as people say... their last two efforts are very Opeth-like while still being very much their own. The Forlorn is a fantastic album that has an atmosphere that i have not seen replicated.
In Mourning is musically good and the death vocals are solid, but the cleans leave a lot to be desired. Still worthy of your time, if you're into this style.
for some reason now i can view embedded youtube videos so i was finally able to hear this, pretty good stuff. my biggest issue is that the parts aren't interesting enough to be drawn out as long as they are. the melodies are killer, but it doesn't grab me the way i had hoped. i won't dismiss it though, i'd like to hear the full albums in the right environment. i remember not liking Opeth all that much when i first heard them in like 99, but now they are one of my favorite bands. i think it's the song "Closure" that sounds like Sauron of Decapitated is singing.

the album that "closure" is off of is more Opeth-like than the album before it, "the forlorn". "The Forlorn" is a lot more black metal and doesn't have clean vocals and STILL gets heavy play time from me. the atmosphere on it is incredible.
Heard the new one?
Haven't yet, but the forlorn still plays every now and then. especially that sing "fall"
the new one is good, but it's a really particular mood kind of good. like... you need to be in the right mindset and be able to take it all in and just chill. The Forlorn is still way better, but it's worth a couple listens at the very least.
