Was more cynical and humorous, a true cult classic.
The new one is a big budget, life's-safe-if-we're-all-democratic thriller.

Can't tell what I think except I'm going to go to the theater and scream "RACE WAR" everytime a minority character comes on, which should cause fisticuffs in the lobby.

I hate humanity as it is; I love it as it could be (something John Lennon wrote about the potential there sleeping).

so wait....i just looked at the imdb for the new movie and realized that Statham isn't playing Machine Gun Joe. They just make some new main character up out of thin air named Jensen Ames?? What the fuck is this bullshit? They got some black guy i've never heard of playing Machine Gun Joe in what seems like a minor role.

I had some hopes in this movie not being completely terrible but no.....it's going to be completely terrible. The worst thing is all the people who will come out of the theatre going 'wow that movie was awesome did you see all the 'splosions?' and have no idea about DR2000.

Hollywood jerks off on all my favorite movies.
