under 2k can get you a very decent crown victoria/grand marquis. i will always recommend them as my family through out the years has never had a problem with them. they go forever.

also dont be afraid to check out the 91-96 chevy caprice/buick roadmaster/and olds custom cruiser wagons. they are another group of reliable vehicles that wile having V8's... get better or the same gas mileage as what you are looking for and can haul a ton of shit. all while being spacious. there are a ton of them for less than 1800. shop around. not to mention the ride is smoother than a blazer or minivan.

I'd go to an American-specific lot, like Ford or Chevy. They generally get foreign cars in trades and want to get rid of them due to their names. I went to a Ford dealership a town over from me and they had a Kia. They wanted $5k. I offered $4.5k and the next day when I went in, the dealer said I could have it for what "we agreed on yesterday." I said "Oh, $4k?" I walked out with a 2002 Spectra for less than Blue Book value. I'd recommend trying it if you're really in a bind.

checking out a 96 Ford Windstar tomorrow night in Keokuk Iowa. Guy wants 1800$, it has 140K miles on it, the carfax thing checks out fine and he says everything works(windows,wipers, etc.)

got the Windstar. 1800, real clean and the engine has alot of new parts, good tires, traction control.
