I just learned Opeth-The Leper Affinity. Mainly cuz I needed to know how the fuck he played a certain riff... ended up reading the tab. Good thing, cuz I wouldve never guessed thats how the fuck he played it.
I normally can just listen and learn immediately, so this was an actual challenge.
I am humbled.

spending way to much time working on the guitar solo from Genesis's "Firth of Fifth" I got the notes but cant get the subtle tonal colors and nuances that Hackett does... man its a fucking great solo.

Through preliminary recording attempts for the new album, I've recently learned that I suck at my own songs. Kill me.

ha I tend to go through that after the album is done and rehearsing for the "big show" and think "shit did I play that? or is it studio magics?"

I've started trying to learn all kinds of covers (not just metal), and started youtubing em two weeks ago. Still dont have a good video recording sound, at least when downtuning.
So far:
Iron Maiden-Aces High
Necrophagist-Extreme Unction
Led Zeppelin-Immigrant Song
Faceless-An Autopsy
Attempting next:
Mr Bungle-Squeeze me Macaroni
Gorod-Pigs Bloated Face
