Anyone who likes movies with an amazing story should check this out. Daniel Day Lewis does an incredible job acting, and the whole movie keeps this frightening, eerie tone the entire time. It will surely be a classic.

dying to see this
definitely going to be amazing

Daniel Day Lewis is pretty much great in everything he does. He's one of those actors who really knows how to play a part and pick and choose his roles.

You wont see him playing the lead in a romantic comedy anytime soon. He just does it to win Academy Awards left and right.

This was really good. That final scene just made me fucking squirm.

I could swear I heard some Penderecki in that soundtrack, too

Just saw this too, great movie and yeah the background music sounded like it belonged in a horror movie so that was pretty cool

This was one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces I have ever seen. All of the acting was perfect, the eerie soundtrack definitely sets the mood, and the cinematography is great. The way the movie is shot is like following the mind's eye of the viewer.

yep it's out

I didn't know what to make of this movie at first, but as it progressed it just got better and better, culminating in my favorite ending since "Arlington Road"

Yes, just came out and we made the Netflix score. Excellent movie -- I like how they painted DDL's character as a kind of duality -- about half way through the movie, he switched from aggressive business man to complete sociopath. And they accented that with alot of "dual" camera shots. Highly recommended.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Apr 16,2008 2:01pm
i need to pick up this and Aliens vs Predator

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 16,2008 2:03pm
i'm waiting to hear from someone who hated this movie, but i don't think such a person exists.

Actually the genus working at blockbuster said it was and i quote "farkin boring guy. There is so much talking i slept guy."

And yes, i know, i am still in the dark ages of going in to rent movies, but i kinda like going to blockbuster. And this same cinematic prodigy told me that should i want a good movie, that i should rent the mist. Which i didn't (i rented nightwatch, and it ruled) Then almost by "fate" i was at my friends trippin on some stuff and watched the mist.... don't watch that damn movie. The people who adapted the script from the 150pg book padded it with comlplete poop for dialouge. Seriously, worst dialouge ever.

toggletoggle post by BSV at Apr 16,2008 3:26pm
Picked up the collectors edition the day it came out. I've watched this film everynight since. First view was on mushrooms, fucking powerful!

One of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. Daniel Day Lewis is fuckin' awesome.

toggletoggle post by thuringwethil at the library at Apr 16,2008 4:24pm
we watched "The Bounty" the other night, he's a youngin' in that. Plays a pompus, ballbusting prick officer in it, but Anthony Hopkins (as Bligh) rips him a new one

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Apr 14,2009 2:19pm
this movie is better than most movies. The last 15 minutes are probably the most insane thing i've ever seen.

toggletoggle post by MillenialKingdom  at Apr 14,2009 10:59pm
Amazing movie. I wish I could have seen this in the theaters but everything about it was so perfect. The ending is one of the best endings I've seen in a movie in years. I'm so glad that prick got his head bashed in.

It was such a sloooow ass dragging movie, but the ending made it worth it. Mainly because I like bowling. If I watch it again, I'll just be watching the ending.

The pacing was perfect. Music set up every part, creating the emotions meant to convey perfectly. I'm glad I finally sat down to watch this.

I read the book, i guess the movie only follows the first 5 chapters and skips everything the book has as it's main point

the point of the book: capitalism is evil, socialism is the future and the only way for the working man to avoid slavery/christians are dumb

from what I have heard of the movie: OILLLLLLLL!!!!!!

either way I will be seeing this as I love daniel day lewis

I have owned this movie for years, and still havent watched it haha

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Aug 18,2010 9:37am
there is a fuckton of political undertone in the movie but somehow it avoids ever coming to the surface. you can take what you want out of it. that's one of the reasons it's so amazing.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Aug 18,2010 9:41am
So many modern movies have political undertones.

toggletoggle post by burnsy at Aug 18,2010 9:41am
I thought that the film portrayed greed within a capitalist system pretty clearly. Especially the scene where's he's talking to Henry on the porch with the "I have a competition in me" spiel.

toggletoggle post by arktouros at Aug 18,2010 9:48am
yeah, it's funny that's the only time he reveals anything about himself.

I will have to get to watching this, but in the book the son is the main character and the father is actually really kind a likable and willing to treat his workers fairly but he is stuck having to do things like the rest of the oil tycoons or be bought out or lose his millions.

I was actually think they could make a pretty damn good HBO series out of the book, not to mention they already have the success of the movie.

Under the same logic, I need to get to reading the book. I've only read one book by Sinclair, The Jungle, and it was excellent.
