New site? Maybe some day.
|
YES. one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time. i'm only missing Slavestate and the Cold World/Slateman split to complete my collection. i was listening to the s/t one the other day, Ice Nerveshatter is one of my favorite songs. Songs of Love and Hate and Streetcleaner are the best he ever wrote, thats hard to say because not one single second of the others are any less amazing. in the movie Hideaway with Jeff Goldblum there is a scene where Godflesh is playing the song "Nihil" live, its only available on the Hideaway soundtrack. i've never heard it other than in the movie. |
|
I'm gonna have to go with Pure as my favorite. And I actually enjoyed that movie Hideaway. Alicia Silverstone + Godflesh = glorious triumphant triumph. The book was rad, too. |
|
Definitely appreciated. I have the self titled debut, Streetcleaner, Pure and the Merciless e.p. Love the simple chunky guitars and hypnotic, trance-like beats; Broaderick's hardcore-style bark accents the music perfectly as well. |

If anything but Streetcleaner is your favorite Godflesh record you are a faggot! |
|
See you at the bath house, clock cleaner. |

when i was 15 i worked at KFC, and this scrubby, insane, obviously drugged out guy handed me a tape of Streetcleaner and said "dude, listen to Christbait Rising, you'll appreciate it". that changed everything. |

Mario played me this tape of this back around 89. "You never heard Godflesh yet?"
Never before since hearing Venom's Black Metal was I so dumbfounded.
One of my all time favorites!

GODFLESH BELIEVES IN THE EQUALITY OF ALL RACES
WELL FUCK THAT
BLACK MAN ON TOP!
BLACK POWER |

2nd favorite band. Heaviest band ever. Hard to say my fav, but it def. a tie between s/t mini LP and the obligatory "Streetcleaner". "Mighty Trust Crusher" is probably the most haunting song ever recorded.
Get dead if you can't appreciate the sheer awesomeness of all Godflesh releases (i will let you pass if you don't like "Hymns", though there was 3 really awesome songs on it). |
|
My buddy Tony down around BMore/D.C. saw Godflesh touring for Streetcleaner.
He said to this day it was THE loudest concert he has ever been to. His ears were ringing for days afterwards. And he has been going to shows for years and still does. Only now he is 39 with a wife, two kids and a big house. Still, he said nothing has yet to equal seeing Godflesh for pure sonic abuse. |

My favorite is actually the Merciless e.p. Short but awesome. I just really like the sound on that one. |
|
no love for Hymns? that album crushes and you know it. my personal fav anyways. |

YOUR PAIN HAS NO CREDENTIAL HERE |

I once bought streetcleaner at the grandview flea market...
there was a shy england CD inside.
lame.
I saw them once in the 90's in mass.. I thought it was at the ratt, but it might not have cause other shows that I "remember" being at the ratt weren't. |

I just remember jkb with his low hanging guitar and I think shaved head seething hate. |
|
Dec 2 1994 Wallace Civic Center Fitchburg, MA opening for Type O Negative & Danzig. Selfless tour. Fucking awesome. JKB walks out totally quiet house (1000 crowd) and 3 people start yelling "GODFLESH!" back and forth. JKB walks up to the mic and real calm goes "shut the fuck up..." awesome.
All you hear, is fucking the sample go off from "crush my soul" starts up and people start getting frisky. Loudest goddamn song I've ever heard in my life. Wow. One of those performances where people just didn't know what hit them.
CHECK THIS OUT.

honestly, I don't even remember then having a drummer when I saw them.
but I don't really remember much. |
|
Streetcleaner is definitely one of the most influential albums of all time. I really dig on the Self Titled though, reminds me of Swans. |
|
bump for awesomeness. I'm listening to Selfless in the hopes that i can channel enough energy to make the rumored reunion show happen. |

I had the oversized creeping death poster. |

I like how no one ever talks about Us and Them. What's up with that shit? |
|
Us and Them rules. its just less focused than his other stuff, the songs are all over the place. after "Defiled" it jumps around a lot, like going into "Bittersweet" after. i LOVE the way it closes with "The Internal" into "Live to Lose". most Godflesh lyrics are difficult to understand, but i don't think there is even a syllable i can pick out in "Live to Lose". |
