i figured out Eight Miles High by the Byrds.
it goes:
Em F#m11/G G/E D Dsus2 C C9
G D Dsus2 C Csus2 C Csus2
thats the verse, then there's an Em run before the second verse
there's a jam after the verses, fun to play along to.

I was gonna learn some classic rock/blues rock songs (on drums) so when I jam with these jammy stoners next week I would know how the songs go, but the dude keeps forgetting to make me a cd. So fuck It, I am gonna wing it and play whateva I want for the jam. I jammed white room (cream-i think) with one of the dudes and after we finished the tune, he smiled and said "that was the upbeat crazy version of the song".
On guitar I don't care to learn anyone elses songs, because this keeps me from copying, and or adapting my playing to someone else's riff style. I feel this pigeon holes me to have my own "style". I guess this is bad and good.

I relearned Babe I'm gonna leave you, Ten Years Gone, and Tangerine. Yup, I'm a hippy.
I don't think learning other people's songs takes away your own style. It just helps you learn theirs. Possibly add your own style to it? |
