New site? Maybe some day.
Years back I heard that members of one of my all-time favorite bands (virulence) were starting a new project and looking for a singer. I went for it, even though they practiced an hour away from me. It was great, but after a couple years I just couldn't handle the commute or the expense, so I had to quit.
Now here I am considering doing the same damned thing again. Only, this time, the band is all the way in JERSEY. Someone, PLEASE, tell me I'm an asstard. I know it's a bad idea, but I need to hear some horror stories about long-distance band projects to help convince me not to do it. I wouldn't even consider it, but these guys are one of my favorite bands, and the new project sounds fucking awesome. Every time I listen to the tune they posted, I keep coming up with ideas on top of ideas on top of ideas. |
Where is Adam Time to remind me of how much commuting SUCKS?! |
Make them build an underground monorail from Jersey to New Hampshire (or wherever the hell you live) or you walk. |
So far it sounds like your idea sucks. Any tunes for me to listen to? Maybe they're that good...How far of a drive? |
It's not necessarily that they're "that good". It's not even metal. It's a prog-rockish band called The Postman System that I really dig a lot. They changed their name, and then the guy who used to do a lot of the singing and played guitar quit, so they're looking for a new singer that plays different instruments. On top of that the material they posted is really good, as far as I find myself immediately coming up with some great parts I could add/enhance with vocals and guitar.
I'd love to try it, but I'm afraid to even send them something since I know it will end up being such a BAD idea. |
I don't like that band.
were they looking for a vocalist or a mallcore vocalist? |
I'm actually giving up the mallcore vocals for a while. Lately I'm more in the mood to do some milli-core stuff. But that could change. In a month, I might jump on the vanilli-core bandwagon instead. |
Join the band virtually over the internet. You can set up webcams at each location and just deal with the latency issues. |
this is a bad idea, but i know how you feel, every once in a while i am tempted to dust of the amp and join a "real" band, its a phase you will get over in time, theres actually a name for this but it escapes me right now.some psychological term for basically "growing up" and letting go of the "inner child" |
I also prefer mill-core...
singers are a dime a dozen
i'm sure they'll be fine without you
just go ahead and look for another project closer to where you live? |
Molecore. |

No, death metal screamers are dime a dozen. People who can actually SING are a tiny bit more rare.

lols, yeah. I was purty wasted last night when I typed that. I didn't even see I wrote system.
I loved terraforming, and then these guys just up and dissapeared. I was pretty excited to see that they still exist in some form, and would love to jam with em, but as you said 6 hour commute is a no go.

i remember seeing those guys like 3 years ago at fat cats |
