i have to buy a laptop soon, i don't want to break the bank, and i need it to run reasonability well. any suggestions on brands/specs?

ps: typing on the wii browser blows

I'd be afraid to buy a budget laptop at this point in time considering everything has Vista on it. You need the POWAH to run Vista.

on a side note, no pcmcia slots or expresscard slots.

it does have great speakers in the front (so the stickers told me) and it's build really sold.
