New site? Maybe some day.

It runs so much better now that there isn't GB upon GB of useless crap on it. I can actually watch a youtube video without it looking like an animated GIF! |

[IGNORE FAILED IMAGE LINKING ATTEMPT AT ALL COSTS]
It's the final solution. |

Reimaging is where it's at. I do it about every month or so for optimal performance against the dreaded "windows rot". |

Dosent that reinstall yer docs folder tho? |

the only thing that sucks about reformatting is when you forget to backup some important document or file. |
|
I think he means restoring from an image file made with Ghost or True Image |

It's basically just reformatting, reinstalling windows, and getting everything JUST the way you like it, then using a program to save an "image" of the hard drive. Then when things get messed up after a month or so you just reimage, restoring it back to how it was when you saved it. Then you just do some windows updates and shit that may have changed on your machine since you saved the image.

It does by default.. but I personally don't save anything in my mydocs folder. What you can do though... is partition your machine into a C and a D drive, then move your my docs folder over to the D drive. Then when you reimage your C drive your my docs will stay put. |

Reimaging is also a good way to jew yourself into using free trials for software without having to crack anything. I've been reimaging every 21 days for like a year so I can keep getting my "free 21 day BeyondTV evaluation period" haha. |

Ghost is the bomb-dizzle. After four or five supremely frustrating (and data-loss-a-rific) system crashes, I finally did a squeaky-clean Win2000 install (fuck XP) with all the meat-and-potatoes apps installed (WinZip, Acrobat, Powerbar, etc.), and Ghosted that shit to a couple of CDs. Bang - instant recovery disks, w/out all that free trial bullshit that usually comes with OEM restore CDs. |
|
totally, when i reformat I feel like I am king. I need an external hard drive for my lap top...it's starting to slooow |
