If you're curious about local bands, I'd say just go see them; it's usually very cheap to get into the little places bands play. If you don't like the band, it's not like you wasted a lot of money.

Why not listen to a bunch of local bands first (online, MySpace or something) and figure out for yourself who you want to see live.

there's a lot of variety in that list, including death, black, thrash, power, melodic, progressive, grind, and fastcore.

Listing 'worst bands' is always gay, and always leads to faggot drama. Asking people what their favorite bands are is a much better use of your time.
