New site? Maybe some day.

There are a couple mediocre tracks on this but for the most part this album was excellent (especially track 8)
Fucking smokes the last record
Really interesting harmonies and chord progressions and the production is really clear and natural sounding

Some of the lyrics seem like he put no effort into them, but overall I enjoyed it too. Nice, simplistic style.
The video for K.I.N.G. however is one of the gayest things imaginable. |
i haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but the tracks i have heard seemed a bit boring. those are probably the mediocre tracks you spoke of. |
I thought Volcano was killer |
i liked volcano. i like rebel extravaganza and the older shit better. |
yeah, I thought the first track sucked
the 2nd was ok
The 3rd track was killer
track 8 rules
i need to listen to track 8

i listened to track 8 and it is most good. |

volcano sucked. somebody told me this album sucked too but i havn't heard it |
I don't really understand the hate for Volcano. Someone care to fill me in, in non-flammatory terms?
It's not my favorite (that would have to go to Nemesis Divina overall), but I dug some of the tunes on there. |

Maybe it's partially because it really failed in comparison to albums like Dark Medieval Times and Nemesis Divina. I know a lot of people felt like some of the songs, namely "Fuel for Hatred", were too catchy for black metal. |
See, I think some of the songs on Nemesis Divina are pretty damn catchy. |
They were. But 'Volcano' was on a major label, and Satyricon started making....wait for it..............MONEY with that record, so it was no longer acceptible within the basement black metal elite to enjoy their music. |
I liked Volcano. I havn't heard the new one yet though. |
I hated Volcano at first cause I fucking hated it. But within the past month I've actually grown to like it. Would like to hear this one. |
Fuel for Hatred was one of my favorite songs from Volcano, but I haven't been able to make it through this new one yet, it's just not hitting me the right way at the moment. |
The video for "K.I.N.G." made me want to hit Satyr in the right way. |
i dont know what to think. Volcano just wasnt the Satyricon i have grown to love. i mean i was apprehensive about Rebel Extravaganza at first, but that cd grew like a tumor on me, and now i cant get enough of it. but no matter how many times i hear Volcano, i just cant get into it. i havent bothered with this one yet. |
weird i just finished listening to this album right now, better than rebel and volcano, track 8 is hands down the best on this album, good head banging music, it's what you'd expect from Satyricon now a days |
I enjoyed Volcano a lot, I considered it their 'black album', their attempt to simplify what they were doing to invigorate it.
I certainly don't like it more than Nemesis Divina but then, I've always been a fan of the simplistic black metal (Darkthrone, Horna, Barathrum, etc) which focused on songwriting and a more bleak atmosphere rather than constant blasting and technicality. |
