toggletoggle post by Hoser at Aug 12,2003 5:16pm
WHOA!!!! Jesus mang......it's this really cool thing called "hot-rodding" your sound so that you don't sound EXACTLY like every other Triple user out there!!
You set the level low on the Metal zone and tweak the mids and highs on the MZ, then set the distortion HIGH. What this does is creates a much more SATURATED guitar tone, with less of the "headroom" that makes a Triple Rec so boomy.
Trust me dude...the tone is sick.

Oh and Rusteds *yawn* to Gibsons????

Are you on crack?? Les PAul (Standards) is by far the greatest playing guitar that my hands have ever met, with a Duncan Custom in the bridge, you can't get a more evil screaming fuckin tone. I have tried just about every guitar that there is, and to this day, this is still the sickest tone and playability that I have gotten, as long as you can get past the weight. But I aint a lightweight, so it dun bother me BIT.

eat my fuck, please..

i myself am quite the anti mesa/gibson/prs person myself. all three are are extremely overrated, not to mention overpriced. that and i really dont like sounding like everyone else on this planet.

toggletoggle post by DeOdiumMortis  at Aug 12,2003 6:13pm
I love my Ampeg guitar head that isn't made anymore. I think Marshalls are overrated too. They're good but there are plenty of other things just as good.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Aug 12,2003 6:22pm
i wouldn't really say marshall's or mesa's are overrated.

in a live setting, nothing can beat them..
except maybe soldano, bogner, or deizel ect.

imo, tube amps in general are hard to beat. line 6 is trying but i don't think they will ever truly succeed even with all their cab, tube emulation stuff.

toggletoggle post by jesus  at Aug 12,2003 6:28pm
randalls = underrated. just cause they endorse dimebag and the distrbed guy people think they;re only good for numetal shit.

but trust me, with the 9band eq built in on my cyclone i can get tones much thicker and heavier then any marshall i have played(including a tsl). and its under a grand.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Aug 12,2003 6:28pm edited Aug 12,2003 6:29pm
dsl = better than tsl.

tsl has too much circutry.

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Aug 12,2003 6:28pm edited Aug 12,2003 6:31pm
im just not a fan of the rectifier buzzy distortion sound. but i think the mark IV is the best head mesa made. i like my line 6 for versatility most of all. im really not that concerned with its ability to copy other amps, i just want something that sounds good all around. i used to have the crate (boo) blue voodoo head. i liked it a lot, but it started to get a wee bit unreliable, which is my reason for kind of staying away from tube heads. randalls are great heads also. i dont have much of a concern over the tube/ss war, just as long as i think it sounds good. and i think my line 6 sounds great.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Aug 12,2003 6:30pm
i think the next amp i'd purchase would be a dual rec...

based only on the fact that decapitateds guitar player uses them.

please tell me his guitar tone doesn't fucking kill.

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Aug 12,2003 6:33pm
i totally agree. decapitateds sound is gnarly. but when i saw them with incantation last summer, vogg was using john(vehemence)'s line 6 head. and it sounded nasty. i am also a big fan of vehemence's guitar sound, which is all line 6, baby.

bane of existence, you really shold bring the 5150 or 800 to live shows... those 2x12's are p00p compared to your other stuff.

are you making an offer to move em man
all we have to move equp is a saturn wagon and a kia compact car if i had a way to get all 4 cabs and the heads there i would belive me

i know the 2X12 are lame but they move easy and fit in the car with all the drums

baisicly it comes down to either bring drums or cabs drums win cause my drummer refuses to use anyone elses drums

bring one head, one cab.

2 2x2 = same size is a 4x12.

or just get your drummer to use less drums.

2 questions.
1. Is the 800 the 2 channel or the 1 channel and how the hell did you find on that was 120 watts?
2. How do you hook up the 2 amps with the 1 guitar?

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Aug 13,2003 11:00am
can play through 2 (or more) amps using a splitter.

toggletoggle post by baneofexistence at Aug 13,2003 11:19am
1.
the jcm 800 is 1 input 2 chnl lead and rthm it was modified after it blew up and the guy made it into a 120 watt i have no idea how he did it

2.
my guitar proceser has a right and a left stereo output 1 goes to 1 amp the other to the other amp

i set the 5150 a little more high end and the marshall more bass and mid and put a little reverb on it to thicken the over all sound

or use the pre amp out on the back of the amp and set up many stacks in a row this is what most bands that have many amps on stage do but
a patch bay also can do that i belive

RustedAngel said:

toggletoggle post by baneofexistence at Aug 13,2003 11:28am
if you use a rack distortion unit that has a master volume knob and you want to get a lot of volume from you amp and you don't use the amps natural distortion or front knobs and fx you can plug you distortion unit into the fx loop INPUT
i belive you are basicly just using the amps power amp then and you get mad amounts of volume(keep in mind this is how i fried my marshall originally but had used it like this for over a year before it blew up) you cannot do this with a stomp box distortion tho

toggletoggle post by WhyamIandasshole   at Aug 13,2003 11:28am
Cool. I've tried doing it with an AB box and it just didn't work. The other solution I've seen is taking the effects loop out into the input of the second head like a master/slave setting but I think the 2 heads need to be the same for that to work.

toggletoggle post by baneofexistence at Aug 13,2003 11:35am
with thte a/b you have to use either A or B with a splitter or patch bay you should be able to run multipal things at once i have used a Y cord from my fx to my heads and the other out put from my fx to my power amp and had the 2 full stacks and the 2 splits going at the same time

im all about my marshall distortion and just modifying that...

a few months ago i got a digitech 2112 and it just really doesn't work well with my setup. To be able to use the marshall preamp/ channels I have to run the dsl100 effects out into the input of the 2112 and output of the 2112 back into the loop.

it sounded okay, all i use from the 2112 is basically the 31 band eq. the problem is that it lowers the volume of the marshall by like 20%... that blows so Im selling it. This thing would be great for someone with just a poweramp rack setup, but its not good for use with a head.

$450 o.b.o w/ control one pedal.

If anything they'll make you pay double, because only massive amounts of cash can cause the release of the fjooking fjury.

Glad this thread came back too. Here goes:

Jackson KV2 (USA) with Duncan TB4 pickups
Jackson Kelly XLR (Japan) with a Duncan Distortion in the neck position and a Dimebucker (massive heat from that one) in the bridge position.
Also, just (perhaps foolishly) ordered an RR1-T (USA) with Black Ghost Flames.

My affinity for Jackson guitars knows no bounds! Wee! Marty Friedman was GOD on Rust in Peace.

Furman SPB-8 pedal board with:
Boss Metal Zone
Boss 7-band EQ
Boss Digital Delay 6
Boss Flanger
Morley volume pedal
Hush - The Pedal

Marshall JCM900 Hi-Gain/Dual Reverb Head, with Groove Tubes
Some Marshall cab.
