IBANEZ SABRE

I-BEEN-HAD...

-------------------->

on the purchase list for me is:

Carvin TS100 Power Amp
Marshall 412MG a&b cabnets
Locking kit for a floyd rose trem (so my bridge don't move anymore)
New guitar - probably an ESP LTD MHB-400 BARITONE

(and not quite so musical)
P5AD2-E Premium Motherboard
Intel P4 EE 3.73GHz CPU
2GB DDR2 533
4x 250GB WD Raptor SATA HDD's (10,000RPM)
SB Live Audigy 2 Platinum Ex
ATI Radeon x850 XT 256MB Vid Card
16x Dual Layer DVD +/- RW Drive

(and even less musical...)
I have to plan my wedding

So, I really have no money for the stuff I want to buy, but it's a nice wish list anyways

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 10:33am
are you planning to melt ions with that comp? jeez louise.
out of curiosity....why a baritone?

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 28,2005 10:39am
a baratone, because we tune to B, and it's fucking torture on a standard scale guitar to be tuned that low (i.e. crap for string tension etc., also dosen't help that I'm using an I-BEEN-HAD)

that comp is being built so I can get back into hardcore gaming & 3d modeling again.

i hear that all the time but i have to disagree with it, don't get me wrong i love my JACKSON RR1 V but i always get paranoid with it being at shows(too many scetchy people) and 2 it weighs 3lbs more than the ibanez sabers and seeing where i had a broken tailbone before it never healed correctly and i now have cronic back problems a lighter guitar was somthing i needed to do

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 28,2005 10:51am
I've got an Ibanez RG520QS, it's not a bad guitar, but I'd much rather a KV2 or an ESP DV8R

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 10:53am
what gauge strings do you use?
Throw 11's on that axe, and your tension probs will vanish.
Of course you have to re-set the spring tension.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 28,2005 10:56am
I'm getting a locking kit for my Floyd Rose, that will help with spring tension. 11's are too heavy for me, I can use a set of 10's with a really heavy bottom before I run into problems. I'm a light player, so 11's tend to be too heavy for the stuff I do.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 10:59am
Ahh I gotcha.
So do baritones need special baritone strings, or no?

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 28,2005 11:01am
no, I don't believe so. I think they just use standard strings, but because the scale is longer (i.e 27" not 25.5") the tension problems work themselves out

toggletoggle post by SUBJUGATE   at Mar 28,2005 11:04am
i have 013's on all my guitars tuned to B flat to B flat

b-e-a-d-g-b

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 28,2005 11:07am
B standard tuning is: B-E-A-D-F#-B
Bb standard should be: Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-F-Bb

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 11:15am
13's are friggin ape strings!!!...how the hell do you play leads on them?
well...I guess Bb is low enough to let em flub a lil. Still tho...wow.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Mar 28,2005 11:16am
as long as the G string isn't wound it probably wouldn't be a huge deal.

I still prefer 11's tuned B-E-A-D-F#-B.

toggletoggle post by SUBJUGATE   at Mar 28,2005 11:21am
eh i have always tuned pretty fucked up

it has the tension of a standard tuned guitar at that gauge and tuning but when i play my g/f's fender squire with 009's and in E it is like playing on wet noodles

toggletoggle post by gorgish at Mar 28,2005 11:25am
you have to buy baritone strings because the length of the strings are longer.
and it's a pain in the ASS cause guitar center never has them

you can put other strings on, but it's kind of silly to.
i used to use 14s when i did aganihm. its alot like learning to play guitar all over again.

toggletoggle post by gorgish at Mar 28,2005 11:27am
i bought an mxr zack wilde pedal for more gain. it sounds pretty badass.
i also got burst bucker gibson pickup in my bridge.
um
some dr 11 strings.
that's about it. i've been thinking about switching out my v4-b and trying out some new heads, but i can't afford it right now

HAHA, I play 9's tuned to B on my Ibanez, I'm going to restring it this week though

gorgish said:

That's why you buy a bunch when they actually DO have them

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Mar 28,2005 11:35am
argh, I'm pretty good at setting up floyds since I've had to deal with them since 7th grade. For recording though, I'm gonna pay the local tech to setup both of my guitars to B and make sure they are intonated perfectly.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 28,2005 11:37am
yeah, intonation... I definately need a setup on my guitar. it's close, but not perfect right now.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 11:39am
ya...intonation on floyds sucks to do, but theres a tool out specifically for it. You can get it thru stu-mac, but I forget what they call it.
But it makes it so you dont havta undo the string, every adjustment you make.
Then all you need is a good tuner, and patience.

yeah, but I can't afford a roadie, LOL!

toggletoggle post by gorgish at Mar 28,2005 11:49am
floyd roses aren't worth the frustration....
i grew up playing with one since i was in 6th grade.
ever since i changed guitars and lost the floyd rose it's like my guitar doesn't hate my anymore
i fucking hate those things

toggletoggle post by gorgish at Mar 28,2005 11:50am
hate me*

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 11:57am
Ya...same here....but I NEED my floyd.
If I didnt use it...I would get a les paul or variant in a second.

I played an sg a couple of weeks ago....and I'm so used to the floyd it actually felt weird to play a regular stop tailpeice.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 28,2005 11:59am
I like the way LP's sound, but I'm not comfortable playing them, and they don't down tune well, becaus eof the dovetail joint on the neck, if the tension isn't perfect, the neck can shift and cause problems :(

toggletoggle post by gorgish at Mar 28,2005 12:21pm
les pauls are WAY to heavy
i hate those guitars
just get gibson pickups if you like how they sound.

or you can get emgs and sound like every other metal band....

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 12:26pm
"or you can get emgs and sound like every other metal band.... "

thats not true, seeing how many different amp/guitar/fx combinations there are.

toggletoggle post by perilsoreasoning at Mar 28,2005 12:36pm
i bought a used peavey ultra 60 head for cheap. sounds so good. so heavy. i saw backstabbers inc and they had two of these.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 12:39pm
ya I used to have 2 pv 60/60 classic tube power amps.
The first one was stolen by an ex-landlord and the 2nd one was demolished by my bassist spilling fog juice all inside of it.
I loved those. But now that I have my mesa....never going back.

toggletoggle post by Boots nli wtf at Mar 28,2005 12:45pm
Hey perilsoreasoning: i tried a used peavey ultra 60 out the other day with a marshall 4x12 cab. i thought it sounded good for the money. i'm a poor folk so i don't get to spend much cash on fun stuff. wasn't able to really crank it because i was in a store. can this thing handle a 4x12 cab cranked?

toggletoggle post by perilsofreasoning at Mar 28,2005 12:48pm
yup. used the head to power two cabs before. one of my guitarists uses my peavey head when we play out. my other guitarist uses a mesa single rect.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 12:51pm
http://www.wholenote.com/resources/revmain.asp?i=2963

they get a good review on here....its only 60 w head, but it probably doubles in 4ohm mode. which it has 4/8/16ohm switch , which is cool.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Mar 28,2005 12:51pm
which

toggletoggle post by Boots nli wtf at Mar 28,2005 1:11pm
peril. how much did you pay for yours?

toggletoggle post by perilsofreasoning at Mar 28,2005 1:16pm
$250 at daddy's junky music in dartmouth.

toggletoggle post by Boots nli wtf at Mar 28,2005 1:36pm
