so i have 150 bucks to pick out a new cd player for my car for x-mas. im leaning towards the blaupunkt monte carlo edition. none of my friends have a blaupunkt. anyone know how good they are?

any other suggestions in that price range?

if it matters i drive a 97 monte carlo z34 and i have subs that i will be adding and maybe interior speakers later

I voted the panasonic. I'm a big fan of some of their higher end stuff.

don't get the sony.. er.. Sony are great at making things with cool whizzies.. but they don't last. my sony's been skipping almost since I got it.

im not a sony fan after 3 of my friends blew their explod amps.

if your looking for loud, the panasonic will be louder. i suggest going on http://www.ubid.com and looking for a nice cd player, you can get them dirt cheap. what subs do you have and amp? i would get something with EQ's so you can tweak every crevice of your sound.

i used to drive a volkswagen and i wanted to put a blau in it, so everything would be authentic german (yeah i know, lame whatever). anyway, when i went to see their stuff in person, it all looked pretty shabby. i'd personally go with a panasonic, althought the monte carlo looks pretty neat. panasonic has all sorts of adjustments you can make to your sound, and mine has NEVER skipped in 2 years. i actually got mine at sears..now is a good time to go because the next year's models are coming out and you can get a nice year-end model for about what you want to spend.

i've never heard of blaupunkt...i'm getting either a kenwood or pioneer for christmas. hopefully i'll get the pioneer with 3 rca outputs so in the future i can build the most ridiculous system in my car...1 amp for subs, 1 amp for mids, 1 amp for treble, 2 subs in the back plus new interior speakers. that's just what i have planned...it will take me forever to do save up for it all. ho hum.

don't get the suck panasonic stereo i have in my truck. worst purchase ever, and that includes the time that chocolate salesman tricked me into buying dogshit.

Higher end Blaupunkt stuff is pretty decent. Their lower models are pretty shoddy so I wouldnt go with them. Panasonic makes quality equipment, even their lower end stuff. If you want pure sound quality go with Eclipse. I have an Eclipse 8443 and its the best head unit I have ever had. I paid $450 for it new, but you can get them off of EBay for around 250 or so. The sound adjustments on these things are phenominal, plus they have 3 outputs (High, Mid, Low), a fixed out, aux in and an ECom control. $400 for the ECom box, but it includes GPS and voice activated controls.

For $150 bucks I would go with a JVC or Pioneer. Stay away from Sony though. Most of their car audio stuff is total shit. Hopes this helps.
