For instance, the scene where they escape the trolls because the trolls stay up all night arguing over how to cook them and the sun rises and turns them to stone was changed in the cartoon so that Gandalf shows up and magically makes the sun come up. I like the cartoon, but it's definitely not a shot for shot translation.
