There is some truth to what they're saying. However, if you wanted to get away from greedy promoters and pretentious hipsters I don't think playing doom and being signed to metal blade takes care of that. I happen to like the warehouse shows. But, there have been a few times where I'd bring a friend who is out of their element, meaning they don't like most heavy music, and don't know anybody there that have been treated as outsiders.
