Let's put it this way, when the average metal fan thinks of the originators of slam, it isn't Baphomet they think of, but Suffocation, and that's just how it is. Liege of Inveracity is the track that gets referenced a lot for having that defining slam section. Slam technically creates a groove, but again this is why I mentioned bands like Repudilation and Disfigured. I can't formulate with words how the riffing style goes, but if you've heard those two bands, you'll know what I'm talking about. Those groove riffs are separate from the palm muted slam riffs. Call me crazy but some of those Repudilation grooves I'm referring to almost reminded me of Korn, at points.
