meeting three other home schooled kids once a week in a controlled environment does not count as socialization.

with almost any system or ideal, such as home schooling, socialism, world peace, or whatever, you need to have a perfect world full of "good", smart, people that agree on everything for it to work, and fortunately or unfortunately that does not exist in the reality we live in.
