The reason why Feces Pieces uses two lead singers? In our nearly ten-year history as a band, I don't recall anyone ever asking that question before. I'm not sure that I could even answer that question, but I will attempt to give a brief synopsis of the band's existence. The earliest incarnation of Feces Pieces was a two-piece Speed-Death-Thrash-Hardcore-Metal-Noise-Grind project started in September 1994 by myself and drummer Jeff DeBiase. I was playing lead guitar back in those days, and I switched over to the Bass when the remaining "Pieces" fell into place to complete the puzzle. The band was officially founded on Wednesday, November 23rd, 1994 as a sextet, with a second guitarist (Tony Monaco, from the rock band Waltham!!!); but that formation only lasted for exactly one show, so it was never really considered the "original lineup." The two singers, Christian DiMeo and Tom Piotrowski, were very close friends throughout high school; so when Christian decided that he wanted to put down his bass guitar and pick up a microphone, Tom wanted to join in on the action. It seemed a bit much to have 3 guitarists back then, so I volunteered to fill the vacant bass guitar slot. Two lead vocalists, however, seemed like an original idea for a Metal band (This was 1994, mind you; before the whole Rap-Core explosion). So we gave it a shot, and it seemed to work very well for us. Christian concentrated mainly on a Death Metal vocal style, while Tom focused primarily on Hardcore. This lineup lasted for four years, until Christian left the band for various reasons (Ear & Throat problems, and Grad School) in August 1998. Feces Pieces carried on as a quartet for almost three more years, until finally guitarist Steve Farmer decided to pursue other musical interests (Bassist for The Medea Connection). Tom joined the ranks of single-parenthood, and eventually went back to school for Music Production. Drummer Jeff DeBiase became an apprentice Mortician, and then gave it up to pursue an acting career, meanwhile returning to the drum throne for the 3-piece jam band, 5 Lb. Brown. As for myself, I've spent the last 3 years of my life wondering where it all went wrong. My best friend passed away on April 4th, 2001; at which point I was too severely depressed to cope with reality any longer. It has been a long, hard road toward recovery; and if not for the individual support from my little brother John (Redshift Horizon) and the former members of Feces Pieces, I never would have lasted this long or made it this far. True friendship surpasses all difficulites, hardships, tragedies, random acts of God, etc... And so here we are today, the original lineup of Feces Pieces... Reunited and Revitalized. Same Five Guys... Same Bad Taste. Seriously though, I want to thank Jeff, Chris, Steve and Tom for re-igniting the fire that once again burns within my heart. And to my "Little Bro" John... Thanks for everything, Bro. You're the best. Thanks to all who came to the Feces Pieces Reunion Show at the Middle East Upstairs on New Year's Day. It was the most fun I've had in aeons. I'm looking forward to playing out again very soon. See you next time!!! Best Wishes, Paul J. Caputo Feces Pieces: "Metal To The Core, Since 1994."
