GODSMACK
Get Back To (Musical) Basics
Acoustic/Tribal Record Coming In November 2003
New York, NY – Multi-platinum selling, Grammy-nominated rockers, GODSMACK, are currently in Hawaii recording an as-yet-untitled acoustic offering intended to be available for sale November 18, 2003.
Laid out in a studio on the island paradise, vocalist Sully Erna (who is producing the recording) and bandmates Robbie Merrill, Tony Rombola and Shannon Larkin have gone far from their native Boston to create an environment conducive to recording acoustic down-tempo tracks like their hits “Voodoo” and the current single from FACELESS, “Serenity.”
The record will be mixed by FACELESS producer, David Bottrill, and will feature stripped-down versions of some of the band’s big hits, along with several newly recorded acoustic tracks. The band is currently mulling over which of their #1 singles they will include on the record and how they will differ from the original versions. “We decided to do an acoustic record because we have always messed around with acoustic versions of our music and gotten great reactions to it. Re-working the songs this way shows a different side of the band,” says Sully.
After the recording in Hawaii, the band will set out a North American tour in support of their current album, hitting Canada first, then the U.S. The band plan to hit the markets they missed during their late spring dates following the #1 debut of FACELESS. “Serenity” is climbing the charts, garnering new airplay each week – including a recent re-add from KROQ in Los Angeles.
