I missed the first 4 bands cause I showed up late.

angela rose: they were the firs band I saw. it took them a long time to set up. there was a lot more fret slides on the new songs. scott leone was the "guest" vocalist of the night, I guess. he jumped up during an old song and screamed a bit. they were given more time to play a song at the end, but didn't have any more to put out there.

invocation of nehek: fresh off their signing AND recording, the kids at the cat went nuts for them. as well they should. this band is awesome (and most of them stuck around for the whole show). they ended with their stairway-to-heaven 'my gift to lairs', but they were asked to play one more song which they decline.. I mean even led zeplin can't top their STH. people outside where talking up a storm about them. oh and leone was a guy on liars.

every single nerve: they played a new song and handed out 2 shirts to the "sickest" moshers.

knife wide open: they reminded me a little of kiss the cynic. the vocals reminded me like SFU, but only with the "talking" pattern of them.

ligeia: they sounded really tight (having listen to the mps3). they played a new song that came in with some disgustingly heavy kicks.

funeral in fame: a lot of mass kids moshed it up in the back for them. they were cut one song short at the end. I still have yet to heard the disc they recorded, but I heard that they are or were re-recording parts of it that they didn't like. I guess we well find out.

torn asunder: ok, for all of the new jacks that didn't know, otrn asunder being back together is as important to WMADM as dehumanized's reunion is for NYDM. It's been over 4 years since I last saw them. they played 2 new songs and it was great. I can't wait for the new CD. I think scott lee would be crazy not to do a killer DM show at the cat with dehumanized, torn assunder, and then 3-4 other brutal DM bands (say one new from albany, I'm sure burial will get on it, and one or 2 other new bands. hell, toss on Immolaation!). I would drop my balls at that show. with that said,

psyopus: once again, people lost their crank to this band. probably the single most amazing set of the night. for the rest of the night, almost everyone was talking about them. At one point during their set, some frazzled youth yelled out "oh my god please stop", I think it was during 4th dimension. they got chanted to do another song, but the sound guy clicked on the house music.. just.. three.. more.. minutes.. Ogre wasn't right there, but I'm sure he would have given them the 3 minutes.

if hope dies: whenever their name and it dies today's name are on the bill for a show, I always have to ask myself "long haired or pink bandanas?" this was definitely long hair. they were awesome, a lot more intimate a setting from the hellfest stage I saw them on (they had nudie friends jumping from the stage. the night before they played that unearth show that got shut down.

bongzilla: basically an abrivated version of the block set. I must be getting older or stoned, cause I like there music more and more. it just makes me want to sit down. that would have been a little bit hard, with all the people crowding the stage.

the acacia strain: probably the absolute highest of the crowd participations. at a few points, I actually had to move from the front a few times so I didn't get tramped. they had their original drummer on stage for the last time too.

a life once lost: a lot of people complained after words about songs that they didn't play.. like old ones and IMHO the best track off the new CD, cavil. not many people danced for them though. I'm glad to hear they signed to another label and can hopefully get more things out.

god forbid: they played the longest set of the day, almost doubling the time all the other bands got. I honestly thought it was going to be more crazy for them than it was. I guess people were all tired from the whole day. they actually cut the last 2 songs of their set. that sort of sucked.. but it was still a good set with plenty of people singing along.
