on Feb 20,2007 9:20am | FIREWIND’s new video for the track “Falling To Pieces�? is set to make its Headbangers Ball debut on MTV2 this Saturday night at 10PM EST/7PM PST. The clip was shot by acclaimed director Patric Ullaeus (Lacuna Coil, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir), and the track comes from the Greek metal powerhouse’s highly acclaimed new album, Allegiance, which is a must for any fan of Dragonforce, Iced Earth, Hammerfall or anyone who claims to be a heavy metal fanatic.
FIREWIND’s young guitar phenomenon known as Gus G. (ex-Dream Evil, Nightrage, Mystic Prophecy, Arch Enemy) further describes the video: “Working with Patric was a dream coming true. We've all been fans of his work for quite some time now so we were extremely happy when he told us he'd be up for doing our new video! We shot all of the band performance parts in Sweden, and other parts of it were shot in New York. We learned a lot from Patric during the shoot, and he made each one of us to perform the best we could. He definitely made us look like a million dollars.�?
FIREWIND will embark on their first headlining UK tour in April and are set to make their highly anticipated U.S. debut at ProgPower USA, which takes place in Atlanta on Oct. 5-6, 2007. Gavin Shapiro is the lucky winner of the Ultimate Guitar contest where he successfully transcribed one of Gus G’s blistering guitar solos. He is now the proud owner of Gus G’s ESP Signature Model and we would like to congratulate him and all of the other contestants for participating.
After catching the metal community’s attention with 2005’s Forged In Fire, the group has triumphantly returned with Allegiance, which is a dynamic display of traditional heavy metal with more of an emphasis on speed, technicality and catchy songwriting. This effort marks the first album with new vocalist Apollo Papathanasio (ex-Majestic, Time Requiem) and drummer Mark Cross (ex-Helloween, Metalium), whose talents had a prominent impact on the creative process. Allegiance was mixed at the famed Studio Fredman with the acclaimed Fredrik Nordstrom (Hammerfall, Arch Enemy, Opeth), and the results are breathtaking.
